‘FROM MY OFFICE WINDOW’
After they ‘vanish
east along the river’
I sit back, ask
what
troubled them
what
not feeling welcomed is like
what
would It take for them to feel safe
what
if I become uprooted?
‘PROCLAIMED’
After too many cold Covid deaths
each one preceded by FaceTime
with loved ones
unable to be bedside
fellow NewYork Presbyterian nurses
ride the midnight MTA bus north
hunched forward
praying for a restful night
before they must return in the morning
to don once again facial coverings, green uniforms.
